Meet me at the Creek!
Rock Creek Community Church is home to some of the
oldest stained-glass artwork remaining in Twin Falls.
Captured in this 1908 image are the historic stained-glass panels in their northeast facing casing. Although the building's facade and roofline have undergone modification over the past century, the windows and their casing date to the original construction of the church in 1904.
The windows have suffered damage over the intervening years. Some pieces are fragmented, some have broken with chips fallen away, and others are missing entirely. Most recently, the roundel, or circular window at the peak of the panel suffered damage by gunshot.
And time has taken its relentless toll on the windows. Both vertical panels show considerable bowing, which will lead to catastrophic collapse of the historic artwork if left unattended. Professional estimates suggest one-to-two years before they are lost forever.
Rock Creek Community Church has committed to restoration by renowned stained-glass restoration experts Willet-Hauser, of Winona, Wisconsin. As appraised by Willet-Hauser, each piece of hand-cut glass is true colored glass. None are painted. The appraiser considered their style and period to conclude the windows were likely manufactured in Portland, Oregon for shipment to Twin Falls. They will be valued at over $100,00.00 once restored.
You can be a part of this project! Our historic stained-glass windows were furnished through the generosity of Mrs. Hortense Amanda Perrine, wife of Twin Falls founder Ira B. Perrine. Please help us continue her legacy and restore this valuable cultural treasure for the community of Twin Falls.
